With a rich and diverse biodiversity, the park is a heaven for bird watchers as it is home to over 600 species of birds. Among the total bird species found in India half are found in the park. Some of them are very rare and are not found elsewhere. Among them are also many endangered birds species. Therefore, it is a bird watcher’s delight. Bird sightings depend greatly on season, timing and luck.
There are numerous water bodies in and around the ridge that provide an ideal habitat for migratory ducks and Waders.
Ramganga River is the aquatic abode of endangered gharials, mugger crocodiles, otters and turtles and their sightings are frequent. It’s a must visit list of all travelers. Also one can visit Dhikala Machaan. In earlier times , a wooden platform was build on a tree and a prey (deer) was tied to the tree to lure the tiger to the tree. This was called machaan. Dhikala Machaan has been preserved as it was years ago. Getheryo Library has the wide variety of books on nature, wildlife conservation, Jim Corbett and also many books about the area. Corbett Museum has been set up by the park administration to give visitors a running account of the park’s famed history and glorious times during Corbett. Garjia Temple can be visited if time permits. Jim Corbett’s House has been maintained as it was during his times and it’s the Mecca of all tiger lovers, as there lived a man who devoted his life for the cause of tigers.
