Dal and Nagin Lakes are essential to the ecosystem of the valley and are famous for boating and floating gardens. In winters , the lakes are covered with snow and used as natural skiing rings. Near the lakes is situated famous Jama Masjid that is a must on every tourist itinerary.

Mughal Gardens were established by Mughal rulers and are four in number. Shalimar Bagh takes your breath away with its aquatic lakes, four terraces each rising over above. In the midst of the park lays a canal making the picture complete. Nishat bagh, designed in 1633AD, is situated on the periphery of Dal La-

ke and offers view of snowy mountain range Pir Panjal. Chashma Shahi was laid in 1632AD.The sumptuous garden in terraces offers magnificent view of Dal Lake and mountains encircling it. It is named after the cool water spring that is said to have therapeutic properties.

Pari Mahal or the Royal Observatory lying in the vicinity of Chashma Shahi has a splendid garden and an ancient monument. It looks magnificent when bathed in electric light in night Harwan is the place of Buddhist heritage importance as remains of Buddhist heritage in form of vast tile pavements have been found. It is a must visit for those with archeological bend of mind.

The picturesque valley of Kashmir lies in The state of Jammu and Kashmir and is bound by snowcapped Himalayas that makes its weather favorable for tourism all round the year. Seasons

The spring beings short spurt of monsoons and the weather is cool at 23 degree Celsius to 6 degree Celsius in March to early May. In this time, flower season blooms and lustrous exotic flowers carpet the valley.

Summer last from May to August with temperature ranging between 25-degree Celsius to 35 degree Celsius and Kashmir is a decorative photo mosaic dotted with green paddy fields, blooming trees and meadows.

This is the best time to enjoy boating in its lake and waterways.

Autumn is the best season for watching breathtaking beauty of Kashmir between September to November as golden leaves spread around the landscape. Temperature ranges between 23 degree Celsius to 10 degree Celsius. Onslaught of winters begins from December and lasts till early March with snow-covered peaks, trees and lakes greeting the visitors. It is the best time to indulge in winter sports.

Gulmarg
is famous for its scenic beauty and the world’s highest golf course at an altitude of 2,650 kilometers and a premier ski resort that functions in winters.

Pahalgam is situated at a height of 2,650 meters and is famed for its pony rides, pine forests, green meadows and 5th century temple of Lord Shiva, which is the oldest temple in Kashmir. It is also the starting point of religious Amaranth yatra that takes place annually from July to August.

Sheeshnaag Lake, a place of religious importance, is just 11 kilometers from Chandanwari. Many visitors throng it for its picturesque view.

Amarnath caves are just 18 kilometers away from Sheeshnaag In Amarnath every year between July to August naturally forms an ice-lingam, phallic symbol of Lord Shiva, and is worshipped in those months. It is the most important Hindu shrine that was incidentally was discovered by a Muslim Shephard.

Sonamarg is situated at an attitude of 2736 meters and is covered by snowy mountains. The places to see are Sindh River, Thajiuras Glacier, several mountain lakes and also it is the take off place for drives to Ladakh and famous Zojila Pass.
