Palace on wheels :::

The Palace on Wheels is an exhilarating train journey through the wonderful state of Rajasthan. It provides a first hand experience of the bygone era of the erstwhile Maharajas.

Even today patrons are treated to the royal style that only the Maharajas of yesteryears would have had the privilege to enjoy.

This exquisite train is equipped with state of the art amenities and comprises of fourteen luxurious cabins, wall to wall carpeting, well stocked bar, two dining cars and personalized service.

The coaches which are named after former Rajput states are aesthetically designed with their interiors matching their royal past. Each saloon has a mini pantry and a lounge for the patrons to relax and have refreshments.

The two lavish restaurants ‘The Maharaja’ and ‘The Maharani’ serve palate tickling cuisines. All in all it is definitely paradise on earth

The journey through time begins during the late evening at the Safdarjung Railway station, New Delhi where each guest is accorded a warm, traditional welcome.

The first stop of Palace on Wheels is Jaipur, the Pink city of India and the state capital. The tourists travel through the city in air conditioned coaches.

Their next stop is Jaisalmer which lies in the heart of the Thar Desert. The yellow sandstone fort stands as an imposing sight, towering magnificently over the city. Another tourist attraction here, are the painstakingly latticed havelis or mansions with their grand facades and intricate interiors. The day draws to a close with an exciting camel ride on the sand dunes of Sam.

Jodhpur, a city ringed by a high stone wall with seven gates and several bastions comes next on the itinerary.

The call of the wilderness beckons, as the Palace on Wheels arrives in Sawai Madhopur. A visit to the Ranthambhor National Park is arranged here.

After lunch on board it is the thrice besieged Chittaurgarh Fort that comes in next.

The next day dawns with the mesmerizing city of Udaipur where the dream-like marble Palaces-the Jag Niwas (Lake Palace) and the Jag Mandir, appear to rise from the blue waters of Lake Pichhola.

Next in line is the Keoladeo Ghana National Park at Bharatpur which is the nesting place of thousands of Egrets, Siberian Cranes, migratory Water Fowl and other species of birds.

The last stop before returning to Delhi is the romantic city of Agra, which is the house of Taj Mahal amongst other monuments.
The enchanting and invigorating trip comes to an end after seven days of fun and enjoyment.
